Hi everyone!
Just curious to see what your favorite passage is so far.
Mine is the part where Orual's half-sister (Psyche) is sacrificed to the gods. I felt pity and sorrow for Orual...

My favorite part is when Orual says to Redival, that if she doesn't be quiet, she will hang her by the thumbs when she becomes queen! For some reason, that struck me funny...
That part IS funny Cephia! I liked the mandrake root comment too. I think that the King said it to either Fox or Oraul and on his list of insults he was dishing out at them he said "You mandrake root!". Anyone remember that?
Cephia, your fave part was definitely hilarious. It had me cheering "Go Orual, whoo!" Hahaha!
Well, one of my favorite parts would have to be when...after Orual fainted because her father had beaten her, and the Priest had left, so it was just her, the King and the Fox. They tried to waken her from fainting and calm her down by giving her some sips of wine, but Orual was drinking it quite sloppily. And then, the BEST part, when her father said to her,
"Faugh, you're spilling it like a baby..."
Now, when I read something funny in a book, I will usually just giggle or laugh under my breath. But when I read that line, I could just SO picture the King saying that and started laughing HYSTERICALLY!! I don't think I've ever laughed so hard at a line from a book in my life. I was literally laughing all the way to the next two pages it was so funny to me!!!
Thus, that would definitely be my favorite line from the book. By far.
I'd have to say my favorite parts are
1) the part about hanging Redival by her thumbs, and
2) The Fox talking to Orual in chapter 13.
I also LOVED it when they sacrificed Psyche. That was really amazing. And the whole part where Orual was sobbing and wanted in to see her before she died...and when she got in and talked with her heart to heart. That was wonderful and very heart-felt.
