I think Redival is empty-headed just like the king. She only cares about herself...
Redival, in my eyes, is a very attractive girl who everyone (before Psyche was born) saw as "the pretty one". Inside, though, she is very pig-headed and not very smart. She also doesn't like to be around the Fox and Orual, because she hates that they have to keep an eye on her and that she cannot venture out alone. When Psyche was born, however, everyone sort of forgot about Redival and saw PSYCHE as "the beautiful one". This may be part of the reason that Redival has grown to become an even more bitter person than she already was...
True that. I think she is very selfish. And does not care about anyone except for herself.I sooooooo agree with ya'll one this one.
Well you guys...did you all notice the difference in Redival at all when she married Prince Trunia? I think that she might have matured just a little bit. I guess that some people can change in a matter of time. And for some reason...I started to KIND OF like her better :) Maybe he made her feel complete and safe. After all, the King was HER father also, and I am sure was just as cruel toward her, even though Orual might not have mentioned it. Perhaps this is why Redival was cruel towards the others?
I think you might be right Glenn-Ellen. Once she was married and didn't go prancing around looking quite, um, questionable, I think she felt more comfortable; truly loved by someone.
Exactly, Anna! She felt like someone actually cared and loved her. She never at all felt that from her father...and actually, not even Orual. Remember in Part 2 when Orual was talking to the man and he told her that Redival was lonely? Orual didn't know what he was talking about, and he said that Redival had told him that...when it was just Orual and her, she felt love from Orual. Then when the Fox came, she felt less loved from her. And then, when PSYCHE was born...no love at all. We have to think to ourselves "How would WE feel in this situation?"
